From March 14 through the 17, the 2013 Outer Banks Taste of the Beach Weekend will be in full swing. Guests will flock from all over to taste the local flavor of the Outer Banks. Feel free to head on over to the official OBX Taste of the Beach website to start making your plans for St. Patrick’s Day weekend as all events have been posted and finalized.

To celebrate St. Patty’s day there will be certain events pertaining to the Irish culinary theme, however, our local flair and flavor will not be overshadowed. There will also be events highlighting our local highly trained Chef’s and artisans as we celebrate delicious fresh seafood, fine wine tastings and brewery tours.

A favorite of locals and visitors alike for over 28 years, Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern will take part in an ever popular Outer Banks event, the annual friendly competition that will happen on Sundaythe 17th. We all know that the Outer Banks boasts some top notch, amazing restaurants and eateries, so, as always the competition will be fierce and it will be tough. For three consecutive years, Kelly’s has proudly taken home a trophy for People’s Choice for Favorite Dessert and in years past has had the honor of competing as an overall finalist.

Getting hungry yet? Here’s a sneak peek of an Outer Banks event that will be happening at Kelly’s during Taste of the Beach: On Friday, the 15th from 6-9 p.m., we’ll be hosting “A Celebration of Northeast North Carolina.” Diners will get to try five different courses of Chef’s selections with distinct ale and wine pairings for each course. Taste of the Beach is Almost Here

Behind the scenes preparation is underway for our biggest weekend of the year.  March 14th through the 17th, not only will we host our annual Running of the Leprechaun 8K and St. Patrick’s Day Parade, but we will also participate in a huge event featuring many restaurants on the Outer Banks.  Taste of the Beach is one of North Carolina’s most well-known seafood and wine festivals and features a ton of events including cooking classes, beer and wine making classes, Outer Banks restaurant tours and so much more.

We host events over the weekend tied to Taste of the Beach.  Our dinner event on Friday and Saturday night is a “Celebration of Northeast North Carolina.”  For this event, Chef prepares a fare for seafood and land lovers that feature wine and beer pairings from area wineries and breweries.   Because of its popularity, advance ticket purchases of $47 per person are required as space is limited.

Another very popular dinner that can only be held at our restaurant and tavern is the St. Patty’s Day Extravaganza.  This dinner features a true Irish feast that includes Irish stew, Corn Beef and Cabbage, and other Irish specialties as well as pints of Guinness and other Irish beer.  Following this feast, the Tavern kicks into high gear with a live concert as only we can host.  North Carolina’s own Jonny Waters and Company is scheduled to take us into the wee hours of the night.  While we love hosting dinners that feature local seafood specialties, nothing is better than an evening of Irish food and fun.

Over the past few years, we have taken home the award for People’s Choice for Best Dessert as well as a People’s Choice finalist award and hope to do so again this year.  The Taste of the Beach competition takes place at our sister restaurant, Pamlico Jack’s on Sunday evening.

For more information about any of the weekend’s events, call us at (252) 441-4116.  We cannot wait for this weekend and all that comes with it.  In the meantime, our doors are always open so stop in for drinks, dinner and a little nighttime dancing!

Are You Ready for Some Football?

At Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern, we are!  As the NFL Playoffs begin, we have decided to open our doors on Sundays at noon on for football, food and fun with free bowl of chili, great lunch and tapas specials as well as cold beer and other drink specials.  Delicious crab slough oysters are only $5.99 a dozen -- seriously.

No matter the time of year, we are the “go-to” place for Outer Banks events.  Whether dinner and a bottle of wine are in order or a casual evening out to see a live Outer Banks concert, we have something for everyone.  Now we are taking that popularity and adding sports to the mix.  Everyone loves the NFL playoffs so we know watching the games and eating great local food at Kelly’s are sure to be a perfect combination.

One of the best features about our restaurant is the fact that those who want a quiet dinner can have that inside the restaurant while those in search of more of a party atmosphere have that in the Tavern.  In fact, one of our guests commented “apparently it is a pretty sweet hangout if you want to have drinks and party. I did not even realize there was a dance club until we were leaving because the dining room is quietly separated from the bar area.”

We are a landmark when it comes to Outer Banks restaurants and are so excited to add a new element to ourcalendar.  So get your buddies together and head on over to Kelly’s on Sunday, January 6th, 13th, and 20th for NFL Playoff games.  Go to kelly's Restuarant or call 441-4116 for information. We are located at milepost 10.5 in Nags Head.  It does not matter who your favorite team is just so you come ready to cheer however it would be nice if everyone could give the Redskins one shout!!  ‘Go Skins!!

Kelly’s Has the Catering Under Control

The best thing about working with the catering division of Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern is that there is no stress about the food and set up for any size party.  They are professionals when it comes to Outer Banks events and know how to make the day or evening very special.   From employing their full-service catering capabilities to simply ordering and having the food brought to the event, they surpass every expectation and over deliver on what they promise.  It is why they are they are the premiere caterer in the Outer Banks.

With their full service catering, they have the capabilities to bring a mobile kitchen or utensils and tools to prepare the food at the event.  They also provide dishes, silverware, glassware, table cloths and everything else for any size party as well as a full staff of bartenders, wait staff, and bus staff so that all you, as the host, have to do is show up.  At the end of the night, the staff handles the clean-up and takes everything associated with the catering away.  On the other side, if you are the kind of host that is a party planner extraordinaire, then all they will do is prepare the food at the restaurant and bring it ready to serve along with their serving equipment.

Another thought is around the holidays coming to a close at New Year’s.  For most people, exhaustion is setting in and while a New Year’s Eve party is a great idea, the thought of cleaning and preparing your home is too taxing and overwhelming.  Instead, think about Kelly’s Restaurant as a venue for celebrating.  Even though you are at the restaurant, you can reserve a table or a floor to host a New Year’s Eve dinner where the menu is planned and prepared at your discretion.  It is like having a catered affair without leaving the restaurant.  This way, everything is done for you…even 100 percent of the clean-up!!

As one of three landmark Outer Banks restaurants, Kelly’s does whatever you want them to do to make your New Year’s Eve memorable.  Just give them a call at (252) 441-4116 to talk about your upcoming Outer Banks event or dinner.  Without a doubt, they will have great ideas and help you pull off the perfect celebration.

This Outer Banks events feature USGA rules, and four different prizes for the winning teams including cash prizes and gift certificates. In addition to golf there are other Outer Banks events associated with the tournament included raffles and a silent auction. After the tournament there is food for all participants.
